Song - Ready for the weekend

Artist - Calvin Harris

Who made the video and where it was filmed:

The video for Ready for the weekend was directed by Ben Ib and the whole video was filmed in a green screen studio. The reason for this was because they had to film it all in the studio because they would not have had been able to create the main special effect in the whole of the video with out it.

When it was released and the amount of copies that it sold in the first week:

The music video had its first premier on July 4th 2009.The single was released omn august 10th 2009 and it sold over a million copies in the first week. The song was taken from his second album Ready for the weekend which was released on August 17th 2009.

Who was featured in the video?

The video featured Calvin Harris and it also featured the two female dances, Ella and Funda. The reason for this was because he wanted to be featured in the video himself and the reason that they used the dances was so that they had something else to go with the video and they also looked very enjoyable to watch because of the way that they fitted in with the music.

How the video was made:

The whole video was made in a green screen studio, the video was focused on circles so Calvin Harris and the two dances were holding circles which were painted green, this way when they put the footage on the computer they added a chroma key effect, this then replaced the green with another video clip. One of the green screen circle effects happened at 0:43 in the video.

They used a lot of camera shots in the video including a lot of close ups. This way it made the video a lot more exciting, instead of it just being a static shot all though the video. One of the close up camera shots happened at 0:34 in the video when it zoomed in on the hands playing the keyboard.

The lighting was very important because they had to evenly light up the green screen areas, because if they were not lit up evenly then there would be a lot of shadows and the effect would not work. They also had to make sure that the singer and the dances were evenly lit up so that nothing looked out of place in the video.

How the song fits in with the video:

The way in which that the song fits in with the video is mostly about what is used in the video, for example because the song has got a keyboard in it, there is a part in the video when you see a pair of hands playing the instrument. The way in which that they used a green screen effect was a very good idea because the moving circles went with the music.

Who the video is aimed at:

The video is mostly aimed at teenagers because of the type of music, because these days it is mostly that age group that enjoy listening to that type of music. Another reason why the video is aimed at this age group is because when they watch the music video it inspires them to go out and buy the album if they havn't already got it.
